Alberto's 2nd Annotated Bibliography

Hustedt, Jason T., and W. Steven Barnett. "Financing Early Childhood Education Programs: State, Federal, and Local Issues." Educational Policy 25.1 (2011): 167-192. Academic Search Premier. EBSCO. Web. 3 Mar. 2011.

Jason Hustedt talks about early education funding system in the United States.  There’s many different early education programs in the U.S. and it’s a complex system. Different funding systems are poorly coordinated. Looking at the authority of this author, I say that this author definitely have creditability because for one, I found this Article in academic journal that peer reviewed. Secondly, the author states his sources of where he got his information,  and lastly there was no declaration of conflicting interests, and it stated where this author got funding or not to support this research. There is higher authority critiquing where or not this article is up to par with academic standards. Incorporating this to my researching, I think I could reference this study when talking about where Head Start gets its funds. It’s mainly from the Federal Government. And in terms of the economy, if the federal were to cut money from head start it would definitely hurt means of operating.

  1. Alberto: Nice write-up, and I appreciate how you're explicitly linking your sources with your larger project. At the same time, I was sort of curious as to how this source spoke back to, complicated, or diverged from your other research? (Even a sentence or two, addressing this question, would have helped).

Funding priorities seems like a complex subject to look at. I'd be curious as to how federal govnt funding influences Head Start, and in what ways. And do federal funding priorities differ from those of the states?

In any case, keep up the excellent work!
