Alberto's 4th Annotated Bibliography

Fitzgerald, Hiram E, Francisco A. Villarruel, Kristine Freeark, and Norman F. Watt. The Crisis in Youth Mental Health: Critical Issues and Effective Programs. Vol. 4. Westport, Conn: Praeger, 2006. Print

In this book, they talk about what the Head Start program is and it’s goals. They discuss about past studies done about the program, and the studies’ findings of the program. More importantly they interpret recently collect about the program and make their own conclusion.  In terms of my other sources, I find that this book acknowledges and address the findings of the last impact of Head Start. The book discusses how trying to collect and analyze how much of an impact does this program once the child has gone to upper level education is difficult. But the book always finds that this program has an immediate effect on children. Head Start does give adequate or above adequate pre-school education. In its conclusion, they stated that the “$6,843,114,000.00 has been well spent in this [program] … The data have spoken soberly and objectively, testifying that the program works and many of our neediest children benefit from it” (279-280).
